Tim Machi is a journalist and communications specialist with over 15 years of experience writing and editing business, science, health, climate change and technology stories for publications in East Africa and beyond. He is an advocate for effective communication of scientific research to the public and has helped train scientists and researchers in Kenya and the region. Machi was part of the efforts that launched East Africa’s first Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine for sexually active school going girls in Uganda. As a science communications trainer, Machi has helped create a community of scientists and researchers who can effectively communicate the benefits of their work to the public and advocate evidence-based regulations in Kenya and the region. and is passionate about building capacity for community-based organizations to address climate change. He has a wide network in the media, civil society, and government in the Eastern Africa region.
