Ian Peter Busuulwa is a biotechnologist with over 6 years of experience in science communication, science policy advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and project management. He has worked with various organizations such as Science Stories Africa, Uganda Biosciences Information Center, Uganda’s National Agricultural Research Organisation, Synbio Africa, Bioeconomy Coalition of Africa, and the International Genetically Engineered Machine. He is also a Ginkgo Bioworks Inaugural Public Policy Fellow and 2022 Breakthrough Institute Generation Fellow, where he researched the regulation and commercialization of biotechnology in Africa. He has expertise in bioeconomy, biosafety, and biosecurity and has presented on these topics at various national and international forums. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Makerere University in Kampala and a Master of Science in Biotechnology from KIIT University in India.
