To celebrate Earth Day on Monday April 22nd, wePlanet Africa is hosting a community cleanup event in Kampala in a slum called Kawaala.

The event will take place on Monday, April 22nd at St. Peter Claver Primary School in Kawaala. Participants will meet at 8:30 am and begin the cleanup at 9:00 am, continuing until 11:00 am.

This year’s theme is, “Plastic Vs Planet” which emphasizes our collective commitment to tackle plastics head-on. We join the rest of the world in demanding a bold 60% reduction in plastic reduction by 2040 and aspiring to a plastic free future because recycling is not the answer.

We need to protect our planet and its ecosystems. Plastic and poor waste management contribute to environmental degradation.

wePlanet Africa emphasizes that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. By participating in the voluntary cleanup, we can all actively work towards a more sustainable Kampala.

For more information on how to participate, please follow wePlanet Africa on X and send us a DM or write to us at info@weplanetAfrica.org. Let’s join forces and say no to plastic and trash! Remember, a clean environment benefits everyone
